Help us Build a New Viewing Tower

January 2010

The Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area (CVWMA) is building a new viewing tower.

Built in the late 60’s, the three-story viewing tower currently located along the Marsh Trail Loop near the Wildlife Interpretation Centre is a popular destination for school children, birdwatchers, photographers and nature enthusiasts to view wildlife and enjoy the breathtaking views of the wetland. Recently, engineers have suggested that the tower is nearing the end of its life span and needs to be replaced.

The cost to remove the old tower and build a new one is $58,000. Grants from the Regional Districts of Area’s A and C and the Town of Creston, along with memorial donations from Dr. Afa Brown’s family and friends and the Hoag family have raised $33,671 as of January 1, 2010.

We need your help to raise the rest of the money!! We want to build the new tower in the spring/summer of 2010.

You can help build a new viewing tower at the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area by donating in many easy and painless ways!

Give us a call with your credit card information.

Make a donation through the CanadaHelps link on our website.

If you are in Creston, use your Save-On-More points at Overwaitea grocery store to help us raise some money. How can you do this? While you are making your purchase at Overwaitea, just tell the cashier to credit the CVWMA Viewing Tower Project with your points. How do points translate into money? When you donate your Save-On-More points in increments of 1,000, each 1,000 points translates into a one-dollar donation. And, Overwaitea will match dollar for dollar! So, from January to March 2010, Overwaitea will match every one-dollar donation with another one-dollar making the total donation two-dollars for each 1,000 Save-On-More points redeemed.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact the CVWMA at (250) 402 6900.
